B.A. LL.B. (5-Year Integrated)

B.A. LL.B. (Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Laws) is an integrated five-year undergraduate dual-degree program designed for students straight after Class 12 (10+2). The program blends Humanities and Social Sciences (such as Political Science, Sociology, and Economics) with core Legal Studies.

By studying foundational humanities alongside legal theory, students develop critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and practical legal skills early on. Graduates are eligible to enroll as advocates with the Bar Council of India (BCI) to practice law, work in legal firms, join corporate legal teams, or sit for Judicial Services examinations.

  • Total Duration: 5 Years

  • Format: 10 Semesters (2 semesters per academic year)

  • Internal Assessment (20% – 30% Weightage):

    • Mid-term written tests / Unit tests

    • Moot court presentations, case studies, and legal drafting projects

    • Regular attendance and classroom participation

  • Semester-End Theory Examinations (70% – 80% Weightage):

    • University-conducted written exams assessing statutory interpretation, case law analysis, and core legal reasoning.

  • Practical Legal Training & Internships:

    • Mandatory Internships: Students complete short-term internships during semester breaks with advocates, law firms, NGOs, or judicial bodies.

    • Clinical Legal Papers: Practical evaluation in the final year covering Moot Court Training, Drafting & Pleading, and Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR).

  • Arts Subjects: Political Science (Political Theory & International Relations), Sociology, History of Courts & Legal Institutions, General English & Legal Language, Managerial Economics

  • Introductory Law Subjects:

    • Law of Torts & Consumer Protection Act

    • Law of Contracts – I & II (General Principles & Specific Contracts)

    • Constitutional Law – I & II

Years 3 & 4 (Semesters 5 to 8) – Core Substantive Laws

  • Indian Penal Code (IPC) / Criminal Law

  • Family Law – I & II (Hindu Law, Muslim Law & Special Marriage Laws)

  • Jurisprudence (Legal Theory & Philosophy)

  • Property Law & Transfer of Property Act

  • Company Law & Corporate Governance

  • Administrative Law & Public International Law

  • Environmental Law & Labour/Industrial Laws

Year 5 (Semesters 9 & 10) – Procedural Law & Practical Legal Training

  • Code of Civil Procedure (CPC) & Limitation Act

  • Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) & Law of Evidence

  • Taxation Law (Direct & Indirect)

  • Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) / Cyber Law
