B.Voc in Cardiac Care Technology is a 3-year vocational degree program that prepares students to assist cardiologists in diagnosing and treating heart-related conditions. This course focuses on developing the skills required to operate ECG machines, monitor patients in ICU/CCU settings, and assist in cardiac catheterization labs. With increasing cases of heart disease globally, the demand for trained cardiac care professionals is on the rise. Students gain theoretical and practical knowledge in areas like cardiac anatomy, emergency care, and cardiac monitoring. It is an ideal course for those who wish to work in critical care units, cardiac clinics, or heart hospitals.
The course is spread over 6 semesters (3 years) and includes a mix of classroom learning, lab training, and clinical exposure. Students study subjects like cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, ECG interpretation, pharmacology, cardiac instrumentation, and advanced monitoring techniques. They are trained to operate defibrillators, cardiac monitors, Holter machines, and treadmill stress test (TMT) equipment. The program also includes real-time training in hospitals and ICU/CCU departments, where students interact with patients and assist healthcare professionals. Emphasis is also placed on soft skills, ethics, communication, and teamwork in emergency care situations. Graduates can work as cardiac technicians, ICU/CCU assistants, or further specialize in cardiac care.
The examination system consists of theory exams, practical evaluations, clinical performance reviews, and internal assessments. Written papers test knowledge in anatomy, ECG, pharmacology, cardiac pathology, and emergency management. In practicals, students demonstrate patient monitoring, ECG recording, and equipment handling. Viva exams and clinical observation records are also considered. Internal marks are based on attendance, clinical behavior, assignments, and internship feedback. Final year students may submit case studies, cardiac reports, or project presentations. The exam pattern ensures a balance of technical skill, patient care knowledge, and critical thinking abilities.
The syllabus is designed to give students deep insight into the human heart, cardiovascular conditions, and cardiac life support systems. It combines clinical education, emergency response training, and practical knowledge of cardiac technologies.
